The GCB is currently seeking a Management Trainee - USA

The German Convention Bureau (GCB) represents and markets Germany as a destination for conventions, meetings, events and incentives both on a national and international scale. It is the first point of contact for companies, associations and organizations around the world planning events in Germany.

The GCB counts some 450 members including leading hotels, congress centers, city convention bureaus, PCO´s, DMC´s, the German National Tourist Board, Lufthansa German Airlines, German Rail and numerous service companies from the meetings industry.

We are currently seeking a Management Trainee - USA for our office in New York starting December 1, 2016

The Management USA/Canada represents the German Convention Bureau in the North American markets and promotes Germany as a leading meetings destination. During your 18 month traineeship, you will gain insights to all activities of the GCB in the USA and Canada.



  • Organize and execute the GCB Sales Missions in North America 
  • Destination and date selection
  • Communication with clients and participating partners
  • Point of contact for German partners
  • Travel management
  • Plan, organize and execute workshops and customer events
  • Attendance of industry events
  • Process customer inquiries and communicate/follow up with partners in Germany


  • Manage the annual GCB Educational Trip to Germany
  • Invitation and RSVP management
  • Coordination of Agenda with the participating German partners
  • Selection of attendees followed by all communication
  • Creation and management of the associate website.


  • PR activities in correlation with the GCB PR firm and headquarters
  • Content management and optimization of the social media channels
  • Work closely with the Communications team in Germany
  • Ensure tone of voice is met in all pieces
  • Quality control of content prior to distribution
  • Coordinate Press trips to Germany


  • Assist Regional Manager in all marketing activities
  • Create Invitations, Newsletters etc
  • Maintenance of correlating event websites
  • Initiate new marketing activities
  • Develop business plans for new business development
  • Database management
  • Market research and marketing analysis based on findings

What you offer:
