Germany and the GCB’s partners are always hard at work to bring more value, options and ideas to meeting planners and delegates. Here are some highlights to be on the lookout for in the New Year.

Get ready for the new CCH - Congress Center Hamburg

Hamburg is putting the final touches on its renovated CCH - Congress Center Hamburg which will reopen in 2020 as Germany's largest and most modern convention center, and one of the Top 5 in Europe. The new and improved CCH is conveniently located in the heart of Hamburg, and is only 20 minutes from the inner city, international Hamburg Airport.

Space, flexibility, green surroundings and natural light are all abundant here. Take for example the 26,000+ sf daylight-flooded foyer space, which is ideal for an exhibition or networking and is adjacent to not only the main lecture hall & others, but also to a roomy outdoor balcony. In total, nearly 270,000 sf of exhibition and foyer space, a 12,000 people seating capacity, a 3,000 person capacity main lecture hall, and 50 mix and match conference rooms are available at the new CCH. Plus it's connected to the largest hotel in town - Radisson Blu with 556 rooms - and there are over 5,200 other hotel rooms nearby.

Hot New Spaces in Stuttgart

Stuttgart is always busy adding new, out of the box places that bring creative flair to meetings, brainstorms and events.

Here are just three exciting examples to be experienced in 2019:

  • Design Offices Stuttgart EberhardHöfe will be their third location in the city and its "heart of it all", trendy location will unite coworking, office, conference and event space. With a dedication to New Work design principles, rooms are created with the four key work goals in mind of Focus, Educate, Collaborate, and Socialize.

  • The recently refurbished "Wagenhallen" has a storied history as the maintenance halls of the former train depot, bringing an industrial feel. Business events, exhibitions and concerts ( for up to 2,000 standing and 980 seated guests) leverages the hip, urban, authentic ambiance. A beer garden is on the way too and artists working in the neighborhood add a special feel.

  • The new Out of Office Stuttgart location offers a cool loft space focused on creativity and play for 5 to 60 people. A "beach" space welcomes relaxation, a "gym" space teambuilding, and a large terrace grilling and cocktails overlooking Schiller Square.

The Estrel Berlin keeps growing! New auditorium & meeting center on the way

Always looking to bring more value and choice to meeting planners, the Estrel Berlin will be growing again in 2019, breaking ground on new and exciting spaces. The addition of the Estrel Auditorium & Meeting Center (with a total of 37,000 sf  of new event space) is scheduled to open in March 2020 and represents a €9 M investment.

Already Europe’s largest hotel, conference and entertainment center – with 269,000 sf for conferences, exhibitions, meetings and events alone – the new, three story building has been created through a Design Thinking lens placing emphasis on the client experience/POV and user feedback. This manifests itself in an airy, light-filled building that includes numerous new rooms fitted with state of the art equipment perfect for breakouts, workshops, and seminars. It also includes several bars for F&B service and an 800-seat auditorium at the heart of the space for use as a conference stage, private cinema, or intimate concert hall. Seamlessly connected to the existing Estrel Congress Center, planners enjoy the advantage of an “all under one roof” event solution.

The art of hospitality and van Gogh in Frankfurt 

2019 will be a big year for hotel openings in Frankfurt, with one of the greatly anticipated properties being the AMERON Frankfurt Neckarvillen Boutique. Built in restored, early 20th century commercial villas, the hotel opens this Spring, blending history and modernity with an underlying Art Deco vibe.  With 122 rooms created by renowned designer Luigi Fragola, attendees will be staying in style in the center of Frankfurt’s business and cultural buzz with the Opera House, shopping, global banking giants, museums and more nearby.

Speaking of museums, a must see art exhibition for delegates in Frankfurt this coming fall and next winter is  “Making van Gogh” at the historic Städel Museum. This show will explore -- for the first time in-depth -- the infamous Dutch painter’s connection to German Expressionism and the German art community. Over 50 of his most beloved works from museum collections around the world will be featured.

Two New Hotels in Nuremberg Add 700+ Rooms In a Prime Location

In 2019 the new Tafelhof Palais – on the grounds of the former main post office and right across from the Nuremberg Central Station – will continue to take shape and create one of the most exciting multi-purpose building projects in the city.

A large part of the old-meets-new urban complex features two new hotels, for a total of 700+ new rooms, along with office and retail space.

The Motel One – which specializes in bringing together design, location and affordability – will offer 500 rooms and a sky lounge with a 15th floor view.

The Leonardo Royal Hotel Nuremberg will include 238 rooms and suites, a 300-person ballroom, six light-flooded meeting rooms, and a terrace in a leafy courtyard.

Completion of the Tafelhof Palais project is set for early 2021.
