Staying at the top
Germany is the number one conference and congress destination in Europe and comes second worldwide behind the USA. To secure this position and improve on it, is among the GCB’s core tasks. Conferences, congresses and events are platforms for exchanging experiences and ideas. They promote innovation and know-how transfer and contribute to international understanding which is a key concern for the GCB. It is our aim to further the exchange of experiences and ideas as well as promote conferences and congresses with the forum that we provide for the industry.
Marketing, Advice and Stimulus
The GCB German Convention Bureau represents Germany as a leading sustainable destination in the world for meetings and conventions. It supports its members and partners in national and international marketing of their products and services as well as providing wider support for the sector.
The GCB enables congress and conference organisers worldwide to access a Germany-wide network of first-class venues, congress centres, event agencies and marketing organisations that deliver customised solutions for your events.
At the same time, we are not only a partner for event planners, but in a wider sense support everyone involved in the MICE industry with our network. We serve as a platform bringing people together and we provide special industry know-how.
Information, seminars & specialist industry know-how
With its specialist know-how about Germany as a conference and congress destination, the GCB supports event organisers with relevant insights and expertise: We organise seminars and provide information on regional industry hubs. We advise on sustainable event planning and green meetings, produce newsletters and help organise Educational Trips and site visits. Moreover, the GCB collects market data and provides information about trends and innovations that are relevant for the event industry.
200 members – 450 different offers for the industry
The GCB actively supports its 200 members and partners in marketing their portfolio on a national and international level. Altogether, the GBC represents 450 leading congress centres, conference centres, event agencies and local marketing organisations. Lufthansa, German Rail (Deutsche Bahn) and the German Tourist Board (DZT) are strong strategic partners that support the GCB’s work.
Meet us at industry events
The GCB is a strategic partner of IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events, and organises and runs the Germany stand. Meet us and our many MICE service providers at our IMEX stand for professional advice. Or seek us out at other industry events and fairs to talk to our representatives and those of the most important congress and conference service providers.
The Administrative Council consists of 12 voluntary members. The three Strategic Partners of the German Convention Bureau (German National Tourist Board, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, German Rail) each hold a permanent seat. The other nine members are elected for a period of three years by the general meeting.
The committee gives advice and supports the Managing Director. Among other duties the Administrative Council is in charge of the admission of new members as well as the annual approval of budget, annual accounts and the marketing plan. Mehr
The Marketing Committee consists of 9 voluntary members and is appointed for a period of three years by the Administrative Council. The Marketing Committee gives advice in questions of marketing or communication strategy. Mehr
